My Morning Smoothie

In my Instagram posts I often refer to my morning smoothie and am sharing the recipe I follow. I base it off of Kelly LeVeque’s FabFour formula which incorporates fat, protein, greens, and fiber in every meal. 

Let me preface this by saying that six months ago, I had a huge resistance to “drinking” my calories. We hear all the time about people drinking smoothies for breakfast, but I had a mental block that resisted them for some reason. It was as if I thought I couldn’t possibly enjoy a smoothie as much as food or be as satisfied. As a former binger, I wanted to eat food.  

But Kelly’s approach changed everything! I now make this smoothie 7 days a week, and I swear to you that it’s my fave meal of the day! The combination of the four staples leaves me full for five hours (I kid you not), and my blood sugar stabilizes, so I’m also in a good mood. It’s a win-win! 

1 1/2-2 cups unsweetened almond milk 

1/2 cup blueberries 

7 ice cubes 

protein powder (around 25 grams of protein worth), no added sugar 

2 tablespoons of chia seeds (I use chia seeds that have 5 grams of fiber per tablespoon) 

1 tablespoon of no added sugar peanut butter 

1 tablespoon of coconut oil 

Blend to your preferred thickness and enjoy!
